The Business Technology Incubator was established in 1990 as a partnership between the Latah County Economic Development Council, University of Idaho, and the City of Moscow. To meet the needs of these fast-growing technology-based companies, the Moscow community and the Latah County Economic Development Council formed a partnership to establish Alturas Technology Park. The Park offers an opportunity for synergistic interaction with both the University of Idaho and Washington State University.

With the help of state legislation, the community formed an Urban Renewal Agency to sell bonds to finance the park. Property taxes paid by Alturas Technology Park property owners will first be used to retire the bonds and later be distributed to local government entities in the same manner as all other real estate taxes.

A great business climate

The Moscow-Latah County area has experienced very steady but moderate growth over the past 20 years. Because the University of Idaho is such an important part of the community, research and technology-based businesses are focal points for economic growth.

Convenient location

Alturas Technology Park is located in southeast Moscow-easily accessible from the residential sections of town by bicycle or walking. The Park is also a short drive from most outlying communities and a five-minute drive from the University of Idaho and a twenty-minute drive from Washington State University.

Alturas Technology Park offers building sites to technology-based businesses interested in locating near the University of Idaho and/or Washington State University. Real estate developers will purchase lots and construct multi-tenant buildings or will build individual structures to suit on a case-by-case basis.

The Park is being developed in two phases, approximately eight acres per phase. Available lots range in size from .68 acre to just over one acre. The facility features a well-landscaped public park that includes an amphitheater to host community events and concerts. The Park also features incredible views of the Palouse and Moscow Mountain. Lot owners and tenant businesses will find a state-of-the-art working environment backed up by fiber optic cable and a sophisticated telecommunications infrastructure provided by Verizon.
