Country charm and city sophistication combine to make Moscow a unique place to live and work. A classic main street business district, Saturday Farmers Market, the Renaissance Fair, and weekend entertainment at the city park are among the many special aspects of life in Moscow.

University of Idaho activities add to the numerous possibilities with such events as the world-renowned Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and NCAA athletics. Nearby Washington State University-eight miles away-offer additional cultural, athletic, and employment opportunities. Dance, theater, concerts, and galleries are a regular feature of both university communities.

Idaho residents enjoy a high quality of life. Recreational opportunities abound in every direction. Nearby rivers and mountains offer hiking, white-water rafting, skiing, mountain biking, and snowboarding adventures. To the east is America's largest contiguous wilderness area in the lower forty-eight states, the Selway-Bitterroot and the Frank Church River of No Return wilderness areas. The Canadian Rockies are within a half-day's drive. Moscow is the perfect base.

Native Americans, horses, and gold all figure prominently in the colorful past of Moscow. Situated in the scenic rolling hills of the Palouse area of northern Idaho, Moscow was a favorite summer haven for the Nez Perce and Palouse peoples and home of the famed Appaloosa horse.

Due to the uncommonly rich soil of the surrounding area, Moscow grew and prospered as an agricultural community. In 1889, Idaho's flagship educational institution, the University of Idaho, was established in Moscow. Today, Moscow leads the state in almost every facet of education from elementary schools through doctoral programs. Education, prosperity, cultural richness, and beautiful scenery-it is easy to understand why this friendly, vibrant community invites you to come and make Moscow your new home!
