The Latah Economic Development Council (LEDC) is a
private non-profit corporation incorporated in 1987 to
foster the growth and expansion of the economy of Moscow
and Latah County in order to provide new employment
opportunities for Latah County residents. The LEDC is
funded by contributions coming from the private sector,
Idaho Department of Commerce, Latah County and the City of Moscow.
The big picture includes bringing and retaining
living-wage jobs in our area, but it also includes
activities which benefit current businesses and which
enhance our quality of life.
The LEDC is the primary resource for economic
development in Latah County.
We work closely with Clearwater Economic Development
Association, Idaho Department of Labor
Inland Northwest Partners, Moscow Chamber of Commerce,
local realtors, bankers, developers and a number of
other public and private entities to field contacts and
develop strategic plans to bring businesses and jobs to
our region.
We believe it is important to maintain a single focal
point for economic development in Latah County.
The LEDC office is located in the Federal Building at 220 E. Fifth Street, Suite 339, Moscow, ID.
The LEDC's unique relationship with private and
institutional resources allow it to move decisively and
effectively in developing, attracting and retaining new
technologies and non-competing businesses.
The LEDC is governed by a 12 to 18 member Board of Directors; up to thirteen of these are
elected from the private sector for three-year terms and five are appointed by their respective
institutions (Latah County, City of Moscow, Clearwater Economic Development Association,
University of Idaho and Chamber of Commerce) for one year terms. Because the University of Idaho
is such an important part of the community, research and technology-based businesses are focal
points for economic growth.
